MONDAY-MOVEMENT RULE: Decreto 19-2018 (reforming Decreto 42-2010, Ley que Promueve el Turismo Interno) moves listed asuetos falling on Tue/Wed to the immediately preceding Monday and Thu-Sun to the following Monday, originally for 1 May, 30 Jun and 20 Oct; the Corte de Constitucionalidad (expediente 5536-2018, sentencia 17 Mar 2020) struck '1 de mayo' and '20 de octubre' from that rule, so ONLY 30 June is movable. In 2026, 30 June falls on a Tuesday and is therefore observed on Monday 29 June 2026; 1 May (Fri), 15 Sep (Tue), 20 Oct (Tue) are observed on their actual dates. 1 Nov 2026 falls on a Sunday — Guatemalan law has no Sunday-substitution rule. 10 May (Día de la Madre) is a paid day off only for working mothers, not a general asueto. THE TRANSFER RULE IS NARROWER THAN IT APPEARS: Decreto 19-2018 (which amended Decreto 42-2010, not art. 127) moves a covered asueto falling on Tuesday or WEDNESDAY back to the preceding Monday and one falling Thursday to Sunday forward to the following Monday - but the Corte de Constitucionalidad struck the phrases 'uno de mayo' and 'veinte de octubre' from its scope by sentencia of 4 May 2020 (expediente 5048-2018). The net effect is that Dia del Ejercito is now the only nationally-fixed asueto that still transfers, so with 30 June 2027 falling on a Wednesday it is observed on Monday 28 June, while Labour Day (Saturday 1 May) and the 1944 Revolution (Wednesday 20 October) stay on their dates. The 24 and 31 December half-days from 12:00 are statutory, not customary. Sabado Santo is listed on its own date, which follows uniform administrative practice; note that Decreto 19-2018's exception list names only Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, so a literal reading would push it to a Monday. NOT INCLUDED: the per-municipality local festival day (Guatemala City's is 15 August) and the public-sector-only half-day on Wednesday of Holy Week. No annual decree is required in Guatemala.
