Mexico has only 7 días de descanso obligatorio in 2026 — these are the statutory obligatory rest days under Art. 74 LFT, not the longer list of banking or civic holidays. Two Art. 74 conditional days do NOT fall in 2026: (1) '1o. de octubre de cada seis años, cuando corresponda a la transmisión del Poder Ejecutivo Federal' — next occurs 1 Oct 2030; (2) 'El que determinen las leyes federales y locales electorales, en el caso de elección ordinaria' — there is no ordinary federal election in 2026 (next federal election is June 2027; any 2026 obligatory electoral rest day would be local-only where a state holds an ordinary election). Work on an obligatory day requires triple pay. TWO STRUCTURAL POINTS. First, fraccion VII (the presidential-transmission rest day) was reformed by decree published in the DOF on 30 September 2024 and is now 1 OCTOBER every six years rather than 1 December; the next occurrence is 2030, so it does not arise in 2027 on either date. Second, fraccion IX makes the polling day of ordinary federal elections a mandatory rest day, and 2027 IS a federal midterm year, so Sunday 6 June 2027 is included - it falls on a Sunday and therefore has no working-day effect, but it is statutory.
