Observed dates taken verbatim from the Ministerio de Trabajo's official 2026 announcement, which applies Ley 139-97 (traslado de feriados al lunes). Three moves in 2026: Reyes (Tue 6 Jan → Mon 5 Jan), Día del Trabajo (Fri 1 May → Mon 4 May), Día de la Constitución (Fri 6 Nov → Mon 9 Nov). Duarte (26 Jan) already falls on a Monday. The immovable dates that would otherwise have moved in 2026 — Altagracia (Wed 21 Jan), Independencia (Fri 27 Feb), Corpus Christi (Thu 4 Jun), Mercedes (Thu 24 Sep), Navidad (Fri 25 Dec) — stay put per the MT notice, and Restauración (16 Aug) falls on a Sunday, to which Ley 139-97's Monday-move rule does not apply. Employers must observe the moved (observed) dates as the paid rest days. Re-verify when the MT publishes the 2027 calendar (typically around November). 2027 EXTENSION (2026-07-30): observed dates computed from Ley 139-97, whose art. 1 moves a holiday falling on TUESDAY or WEDNESDAY back to the preceding Monday and one falling on THURSDAY or FRIDAY forward to the following Monday. Art. 2 exempts 1 January, 21 January, 27 February, 24 September and 25 December, and art. 3 exempts the weekday-fixed religious holidays (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Corpus Christi). 2027 is an unusually thin transfer year: only TWO holidays move - Epiphany from Wednesday 6 January back to Monday 4 January, and Duarte's birthday from Tuesday 26 January back to Monday 25 January - because Independence Day, Labour Day, Constitution Day and Christmas all fall on Saturdays, and the law reaches only Tuesday to Friday (its single weekend proviso, in art. 4, covers 1 May only when that date falls on a SUNDAY). Restoration Day already falls on Monday 16 August. CAVEATS: the Saturday treatment of 1 May and 6 November is the strict reading of the statute and is the item to re-check when the Ministerio de Trabajo publishes its annual feriados communique for 2027, which had not appeared as at 30 July 2026. Note also that a 2013 bill to remove Epiphany and Duarte's birthday from the transfer regime passed the Senate but was never sanctioned by the Chamber of Deputies or promulgated, so it is NOT law and the original Ley 139-97 governs.
