What this value means
June 2026 general index 134.48 (highest since the series began) vs June 2025 130.86 → 2.76% y/y as reported from BCR/ONEC data; note that computing from the published rounded indices gives 2.77% — the official figure uses unrounded underlying data, so a 0.01pp discrepancy is rounding, not error. 2026 index path (BCR portal, loaded): ene 131.00, feb 131.60, mar 132.18, abr 133.12, may 133.74, jun 134.48. Basket: 238 items (196 goods, 42 services), price collection in 6 departments covering ~80% of household spending (ONEC methodology page, onec.bcr.gob.sv). DIGESTYC was dissolved in 2021; ONEC inside the BCR is its successor as CPI producer. Access quirks: the BCR portal table is JS-rendered and only exposes recent rows to a plain fetch; the 'tasa de crecimiento anual' view could not be fetched directly, so y/y rates were cross-computed from the portal's index rows and match BCR-attributed figures exactly for Mar (1.47%) and Apr (2.16%); Jun-2025 index value (130.86) is from La Prensa Gráfica quoting BCR data (7-jul-2026 report). SECMCA (official CMCA portal) independently confirms Mar-2026 at 1.47%.
